Here Comes The Sun

It’s been an unusually cool spring this year in the Mojave desert. Normally it’s a bit warmer and sunnier. In any case that hasn’t slowed me down much. My wife and I had a great time at the Bare Burro 5K at Olive Dell Ranch. We camped out and enjoyed the long weekend. The weather was perfect, except for the cool wind that kicked up late in the afternoon on Saturday and forced us to get dressed!

Our campsite overlooked the Reche Canyon looking west. It was a great view. We enjoyed the sunset and had way too much fun walking around all day Saturday without a stitch on. We took a few hikes up into the hills around the ranch to check out the 5K course and to just relax in the sun.

We had lots of time to cook some awesome vegan food and work on several bottles of wine and beer. Our big family size tent was nice. Lots of room to stretch out in and not be cramped with all of the kids piled in there! I think the best part of the whole weekend was just relaxing nude and not having to worry about anything. No phone calls, no problems, nothing!!! We even setup our hammock which was an added bonus to the relaxation.

The pool area was pretty crowded all weekend with runners and spectators alike. I chatted with several friendly people and we spent a fair amount of time in the hot tub. We watched the race and pondered when we’d be able to return to the ranch. It’s going to be a busy summer with trips to Bates Beach, the World Naked Bike Ride, Yosemite, and Lake Tahoe. We’ll be taking a side trip to Secret Cove in Lake Tahoe which should be spectacular. If you’ve never been to Lake Tahoe it is a natural wonder. To enjoy it nude is going to be a highlight of 2015.

PS. I entered the poetry contest that was hosted at I didn’t win but I did have fun watching the votes come in for the entries. I’m not a poet so this was a challenge and it took me a few days to pen this to paper and get it working well. Here is my entry:

Trapped, without fidelity

Entering this world we leave the dark womb seeking light.

Immediately our skin is feared.

Legions are cornered, constrained in vivid fabric.

Deny to be captive.

Reject the cloth, escape the woven prison.

Savor this reunion with naked freedom.

For the sun pushes life into bare skin with full confidence.

This body is mine.

(end of poem)
That’s all for now. Enjoy the waning days of spring and get naked!
